Meet Elise and Conor Cantwell.

Conor and Elise we’re married in the fall of 2016 and have a two-year-old daughter, with a baby on the way. While Conor was hoping their current vehicle would last them a few more years, Elise was doubtful.

“We’ve been driving our Mazda for almost 12 years now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a great car, but it’s got over 300,000 kilometers on it… I just don’t know how safe I feel in it anymore. Especially with the kids.”

While Conor agreed, he knew getting a new car loan wasn’t going to be easy.

“Elise didn’t have any credit to begin with, and my score? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t good.”

While Conor’s credit score of 540 wasn’t disturbingly low, it wasn’t great either. Conor also had a history of late credit card payments and a few years ago he had an outstanding phone bill get sent to collections.

Sure enough, when Elise and Conor went to the bank to apply, they were met with some bad news.

“We got no’s almost everywhere we went. Even together, our credit just wasn’t strong enough,” said Elise. “We felt hopeless.”

Then, the Alberta couple got online and started doing some research.

“What made things harder for us was the type of vehicle we needed. Minivans aren’t cheap, you know. Everything we looked at felt completely out of reach financially.”

Then, they stumbled across My Ride and started chatting with a customer service agent.

“Things finally started happening. The people at My Ride found us a list of vehicles we loved and we were test driving vans within days,” said Elise.

“Elise and Conor came to us feeling like they didn’t have a lot of options,” said Nancy, who works for My Ride as one of their 24/7 personal shoppers.

“The truth is, they had a lot of options. They just needed a little help.”

Nancy walked Elise and Conor through every step of the process. Once they found a vehicle they loved, it was time to get financing.

“Because Elise was a first-time buyer, we were able to find a program specifically tailored to her credit situation,” said Walther. “Then, we found a bi-monthly payment that was manageable with both their incomes and a loan length that would make it all possible.”

My Ride is a locally owned automotive group with a long history of helping Canadian’s get car loans who otherwise wouldn’t be approved.

“Our secret? Well, it’s a combination of things. We have 38 dealerships across Western Canada, plus one of the largest online vehicle inventories out there. With My Ride, there’s no shortage of options.

We also finance our customers with our own money. We’re confident in our process,” said Walther.

“After all, we’ve been doing this for a long time. Personally speaking, there hasn’t been a credit situation I’ve come across that I haven’t been able to find a solution for.”

As for Elise and Conor, they’ve never been happier.

“Not only did we get our first choice of minivans, we were able to buy brand new,” smiles Elise. “Now we’re ready for the new baby and we’ve got a vehicle that meets our needs perfectly!”
